At this all levels workshop we will practice yoga poses specifically for improving cardiovascular health. I will present a peer reviewed study showing how Iyengar yoga improves the functioning of the heart. A version of the sequence Iyengar created for the study will then be practiced.

From the abstract, “Relaxation techniques are established in managing cardiac patients during rehabilitation aiming to reduce future adverse cardiac events. It has been hypothesized that relaxation-training programs may significantly improve cardiac autonomic nervous tone. However, this has not been proven for all available relaxation techniques.”
