Tues June 30 until Tues July 7, 2026
I need confirmed reservations by March 31 to finalize this unique retreat experience.
Experience authentic Japan and its timeless culture during this one-week seaside yoga retreat. Located just an hour from Hiroshima on the shores of the Seto Inland Sea, our retreat takes place at Kenmin no Hama Hotel, where calm, clear waters meet pristine white sand beaches. Airport transfers will be available at a designated time on June 30 and July 7, making your journey to this hidden island seamless and stress-free.
Choose from traditional Japanese-style suites, western-style accommodations, or unique dome stays, each with stunning ocean views. Begin and end each day with traditional multi-course Japanese meals featuring local seafood and seasonal local ingredients.
Enjoy two daily yoga classes led by Koren, who brings over 30 years of teaching experience and a Senior Iyengar Teacher. Having studied therapeutically with BKS Iyengar and his daughter Geeta in Pune, India, she draws on this extensive knowledge to address each student’s unique needs with precision, patience, and care.
Yoga classes unfold in a stunning 36-tatami-mat studio with ocean views framed by traditional Japanese screens. This spacious sanctuary offers the perfect setting for deepening your practice. After each session, surrender to the healing ritual of the onsite Japanese bathhouse, where mineral-rich hot spring water soaks away tired muscles and quiets the mind.
Immerse yourself in authentic Japanese culture through hands-on activities including traditional salt making and origami workshops. Journey to Mitarai, an ancient fishing village where old geisha tea houses stand alongside Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples, and intimate art galleries, a living museum of traditional Japan frozen in time.
For those seeking adventure, explore the island by e-bike or glide across the tranquil inland sea on a stand-up paddleboard. Swim in the clear sea waters or in the on-site pool. As evening falls, discover the night sky at our astronomical observatory.
This is Japan as few Westerners ever experience it, a week of mindful movement, cultural discovery, and seaside serenity on an island that doesn’t appear in any guidebook.
